Does anyone else find an odd comfort in packing for a vacation? It’s one of those tasks that I actually quite enjoy doing – especially when it’s time to pack the essential makeup products! When it comes to packing for a vacation, I tend to get carried away and pack all things unnecessary which doesn’t end up getting used the majority of the time and definitely does not help when trying to reach the limit of liquids at the airport!
Packing only the necessities has become a goal for me and that applies to makeup too. Although narrowing down your makeup products can be difficult this guide will cover the only essential makeup products you will need for minimal makeup looks while living out of a backpack or a suitcase.
Concealers are always at the top of my list when it comes to packing makeup. Traveling usually involves restless nights, sleeping in unconventional places, and tiredness from all the walking so concealers will definitely be of use to hide that tiredness showing up on your face. If you’re all about reaching a natural finish that blends smoothly onto the skin, the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is the perfect item to use. It is long-lasting, sweat proof, and super easy to blend making it a staple in my travel bag. I have been repurchasing the same product for years and it never disappoints!
I don’t tend to use foundations as often so when I am tight on space I’m happy to skip this item. If I do carry a foundation with me the Ex1 Cosmetics Invisiwear Liquid Foundation has been the one I reach for the most. This foundation is quite lightweight and easy to build up without leaving a cakey finish. Besides the quality of the product, a definite plus point is the range of skin tones they have available!
Blush is another mandatory product that is great when it comes to giving your skin instant life and brightness from all the traveling. The Nars Blush in the shade ‘Liberte’ is one of my recent purchases and it’s ideal for a natural look but also for occasional wear. This blush does have a slight shimmer to it which leaves a subtle glow on the cheeks and looks immaculate for a natural glowy look. The size of the blush is quite small so packing this in my travel bag is never an issue!
When it comes to highlighters, the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in the shade ‘Mean Money/Hustla Baby is my all-time fave! This product is super flattering on the face leaving a subtle yet radiant glow so it’s definitely an essential makeup product.
When it comes to the lips, this is when i usually get carried away bringing unnecessary amounts of lipliners and lipsticks which end up remaining in my bag unused during vacations. I have now limited this by only carrying the below essential makeup products.
Lipliners are a must and it’s one of the only makeup items I carry with me at all times! My absolute favorite lip liner is the Morphe Lipliner in the shade ‘Sugar Pie’ and it has been a staple in my makeup for years. It’s easy to apply and stays sharp whilst also smooth on the lips. The color is perfect for blending into lipsticks and looks great in any look.
The Huda Beauty Power Bullet Matte Lipstick is the perfect lipstick to carry with you with its creamy and non-drying texture. The shade that I reach out for the most is ‘First Kiss’ which is described as a ‘pinky warm shade.’ It’s long-lasting and reapplies beautifully so a great choice to bring one of these lipsticks.
Extra: Tinted lip balms are also great for traveling as they add a bit of color whilst keeping your lips moisturized so it’s pretty useful to carry on the go. I recommend the Burts Bees Tinted Lip balm in the shade Dahlia which is a rosy shade that really enhances your lip color.
When it comes to mascaras, it’s important to take one that doesn’t smudge easily or is flakey as you will be out all day. The Urban Decay Perversion Mascara is the perfect one to take with you as it adds great lengths to your lashes without clumping up making this an essential makeup product to carry with you.
Eyeliners are not necessarily used for every look but they can transform any look! They can take the longest to apply when trying to perfect the sharpness but a felt tip eyeliner can speed up the process a lot faster. The Rimmel London Wonder’Ink Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner is a good option when it comes to ease of application as the liner glides on easily and stays all day without smudging.
That concludes my list of essential makeup products for traveling! What makeup products do you always carry with you when traveling?
